We were not saved just to sit back and do nothing. We were given power when we received the Holy Spirit.
We are to tell people about our Lord, to be His witnesses. Acts 1:8 We have the power to help people. Our words are powerful. We can share The Word with people and help them. Helping is not always about giving some one money.
"...Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee ... " Acts 3:6 We are empowered to speak to people in such a way as to change their lives. So, be very careful what you say when you speak to people. Speak to them in a way that will be helpful to them.
Don't just show them the error in their ways. Help them to see The Truth and show them The Way. John 14:6
