Do you know what God has called you to do? Are you doing what God has called you to do or are you doing what you want to do?
Some times we have plans to do one thing and God wants us to do something different. The apostle Paul was leaving Jerusalem, on his way to Bithynia, and had stopped in Troas for the night. There a vision came to him "...saying come over to Macedonia, and help us." Acts 16:9
"And after he had seen the vision, immediately ..." he went to "... Macedonia, assuredly gathering that The Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them." Acts 16:10
Paul quickly put aside his plans to do what The Lord had called him to do. Unfortunately, we respond more like Jonah than Paul. We don't want to do what The Lord wants us to do and frequently we go off in the opposite direction like Jonah.
"Now the word of The Lord came unto Jonah "... saying arise, go to Nineveh ... but Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish ..." Jonah 1:1-3
Jesus said His "... sheep follow Him; for they know His voice." John 10:4 First we need to make sure that we know His voice and know exactly who we are listening to. The we ought to follow Him and obey His instructions. We need to respond like Paul did and not respond like Jonah.
Listen to the voice of The Lord. When you hear His voice, do whatever it is that He calls you to do. There is great pain and penalty in going against The Word of God and great reward for following it.
