God really loves us. No matter how bad we are, no matter what sin we have committed in the past. No matter what we have said or done, God loves us. He loves us even when we do not love ourselves. He loved us before we love Him.
"But God commendeth His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
We did not and do not deserve His love. We were just hopelessly lost sinners when, by the grace of God, Christ died for our sins. We could never have earned salvation.
"That ... He might show ... His grace in His kindness toward us through Jesus Christ. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:7-9
We were created to do good works, to fellowship with God, but He gave us a choice and we chose to sin. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10
God loves us, we can choose to love Him. Choose you this day, to love Him
