Let Us Run This Race

Some things happen to us as consequences of our poor choices, some things as punishment for our sins, and some things as a test of our faith and commitment. There is no testimony without first having a test.

"... My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou are rebuked of Him; For whom The Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth." Hebrew 12:5-6 God will spank us when we mess up. He spanks us because He loves us. But sometimes things happen to test us. Remember all the bad things that happened to Job.

"... Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith ..." Hebrew 12:1-2

Let us drop all of the negative baggage that we are carrying, let go of our favorite sinful ways, look to The Lord, and let's run this marathon of life that is before us in a manner that is pleasing to to Him and gives God glory. This is not a sprint. The reward goes to "he that endureth to the end ..." Matthew 10:22 It is important not only that we run the race but also how we run it.

Things happen to us for a reason. We cannot control the things that happen, all we can control is our reaction to them. So, let us act like Christians, regardless of what happens.
