Consider Your Ways

Why is it that we work hard to fulfill our own personal agendas, but put very little effort into our work for The Lord? Why do we let God's house get dirty and in disrepair, but we constantly clean up and fix up our homes?

"Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled (cedar paneled) houses, and this house (The Lord's house) lie waste? Haggai 1:4

"Yet now be strong ... saith The Lord ... be strong ... and work; for I am with you, saith The Lord of Hosts ..." Haggai 2:4

The phrase "... consider your ways ..." is used or implied five times throughout this prophecy, 1:5 & 7, 2:15 & in 2:18 twice. It is a plea on the part of God for the people to take note of what they are doing and amend their ways accordingly with respect to His temple and His work.

We should not put ourselves before God. We should not put anything before God, Exodus 20:3. We should first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, Matthew 6:33

Let's consider our ways and start to put God first.
