"May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine upon us ..." Psalms 67:1 (NIV)
This psalm may have been a song which was sung to ask God to be merciful to His people and to bless them. They also asked God if they could be in, and receive, His favor.
These three things would be the ideal things that we should pray for, God's grace, God's blessing, and God's favor. We should pray for God's grace because we want His divine assistance even though for us it is unmerited. We should pray for God's blessings because we want His approval, protection, provisions, and we want Him to grant us joy, health, life, happiness, and prosperity. We should pray for God's favor because we want His attention, loving kindness, and special consideration. If the truth be told, we want a lot from God. He grants us the right to ask for what we want. (John 15:7) What we really ought to do is spend more time thanking Him for what He has already done for us.
