"There are six things The LORD hates, seven that are detestable to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers." Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV)
In this proverb of King Solomon, the wisest man to ever live, (1 Kings 4:30 and 1 Chronicles 1:12), he told the people of God that there were seven things which were an abomination to The Lord that they should not do.
There are a number of things which The Lord God hates. (Deuteronomy 12:31) This list of seven things which are an abomination to The Lord is not exhaustive. The Lord God also hates graven images (Deuteronomy 7:25), a perverse person (Proverbs 3:32), a false balance (Proverbs 11:1), and the thoughts of the wicked (Proverbs 15:26). As believers we are to do the things which are pleasing to The Lord. Those who love The Lord will keep His commandments. (John 14:15 and 14:24) If we say that we know The Lord and do not keep His commandments, then we are liars. (1 John 2:4) Let us obey The Lord God and let our words and actions please Him. Let us not do the things which are an abomination to Him.
