"Surely God is my help; The Lord is the one who sustains me." Psalms 54:4 (NIV)
David was fearful for his life on many occasions, and each time he prayed to God for help. He knew who was the source of his help. He asked God for deliverance, anticipated it, and thanked God for it in advance.
We would be better off if we imitated this part of David's behavior. We know that it is God who helps us, protects us, sustains us, and provides for us. We know that He loves us and cares for us. When we ask for His help, to do His will, we need to proceed as if it is already done.
