Do you really want to be a better person? Do you really want to stop all of your sinful ways and be more Christ-like?
Most of us like our bad habits. We often make excuses for them when talking to others, but we really do not want to change.
Like the man by the pool of healing waters in Bethesda, we are full of excuses. Jesus asked him "Wilt thou be made whole?" John 5:6 He did not answer the question. He said that he had no one to help him get in the pool and someone always got in before he could get in.
If Jesus asked us that same question, how would we answer it? Before you respond remember that God gave us a choice and more often than not we choose to do wrong. The devil does not make us sin, we sin because we want to.
We prefer earthly pleasures, possession, and praise now rather than seeking God and His righteousness. We only want God to fix the things that we want changed but we do not want Him to change our whole life to His Godly ways.
Think about it, "Wilt thou be made whole?"
