Years ago as a you boy I remember watching cartoons on television as seeing a character with a decision to make and there were two miniatures of the character standing on his shoulders and whispering in his ear, one representing an angel and the other the devil.
This representation of the voices in our head, telling us the right and the wrong thing to do, was just a graphic illustration of what we each deal with several times a day. Do you hear the little voices and do you know which one is which?
Jesus said, His "... sheep follow Him; for they know His voice. And a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him; for they know not the voice of strangers." John 10:4-5
As Christians, we should talk with God often enough so that we recognize His voice. If we would follow His voice, we would do and say the right things. We get into trouble when we choose not to listen to Him or choose not to heed His Word.
If you do not know which voice is the voice of God, then either you don't know Him or you do not talk with Him often enough.
Are you one of the sheep of The Good Shepherd? His sheep know His voice and follow Him.
