GOD CAN STRENGTHEN US WHEN WE ARE WEAK

Proclamation:

"Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.  And the glory of The Lord will be revealed ... The Lord is the everlasting God, The Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.  He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in The Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:4-5 & 28-31 (NIV)

Explanation:

In this Bible chapter the prophet Isaiah describes the power of God.  Isaiah comforts people by explaining what God has done and what He can do for them.  All they have to do is have faith in God.  First, he reminds them of what John, the baptizer, said “Prepare
the way of The Lord ….”  They needed to remove the obstacles between them and The Lord by repentance from their sins.  Then he comforts them by telling them that God has the power to strengthen the weak, to pick up those that fall, and to give endurance to those that are weary and faint.

Application:

The same applies to us today.  God is still all powerful and He is still in control of everything.  No matter what is happening in our lives, we need to have faith in God.  For as He works things out for us, His glory will be revealed to us.  He knows what we need when things are getting us down, and He can strengthen us.  He knows when we slip, fall, and sin, and He can pick us up.  We don’t have to wallow in sin and the mud like the pigs, we can soar above the clouds like the eagles.  All we have to do is to remove anything that stands between us and The Lord.  This we can do by believing in Him and asking Him to forgive us of our sins.  We need to have faith in The Lord.  He can share His strength and power with us.
