"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of The LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night." Psalms 1:1-2 (NIV)
The author of this psalm describes the truly happy man as one who chooses to follow The Word of God, and who chooses not to follow the wicked, sinners, or those who mock The Lord. He enjoys reading and meditating on The Word of God daily, and he does so each morning and evening.
As believers we should avoid those non-believing people who have heard and rejected The Word of God. We should read The Word of God at the beginning and at the end of each day and that should bring us joy. We would enjoy life more if we spent more of our time contemplating, internalizing, and obeying The Word of God. Don't let anyone pull you away from The Lord.
