We Find Comfort In The Love Of God

"May Your unfailing love be my comfort, according to Your promise to Your servant.  Let Your compassion come to me that I may live, for Your law is my delight."  Psalms 119:76-77 (NIV)

King David, who was a man after God's own heart (Acts 13:22), makes an earnest request for God's favor.  He prays for the merciful kindness of God to comfort him in his hour of need.  He wants, and asks for God's tender mercies.  Because he delights in The Word of God, David knows that God will keep His promises to him.

God loves us more than we will ever know or understand.  His love for us is unchanging, it is the same today, as it was yesterday, and as it will be forever in the future.  (Hebrews 13:8)  Because of His love for us, He made promises to us also.  God said that if we obey His Word that He would never leave us or forsake us.  (Deuteronomy 31:6)  He said, "I am with you always ..." (Matthew 28:20)  So, in our hour of need, He is with us.  It is God who comforts us.  "Praise be to The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Father of compassion and The God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."  (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)  To God be the glory.
