"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of Him." 1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)
The Apostle John stated that Christians know that they can approach the throne of grace and that they can ask for anything that they want as long as it is according to the will of God. They know that God hears them and will grant what ever they ask for, as long as the request is within His will.
We are to pray (Luke 18:1), ask for what we want (Matthew 7:7; Luke 11:9; & John 15:7), and know that if we follow His will that He will hear and answer us (2 Chronicles 7:14; Psalms 17:6; & Isaiah 65:24:). If what we ask for gives God glory, it will be granted.
