"If you fully obey The LORD your God and carefully follow all His commands ... All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you, if you obey The LORD your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed ... You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out ... The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you ... The LORD will grant you abundant prosperity ... The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands." Deuteronomy 28:1-12 (NIV)
According to Moses, the people of God would be blessed if they were obedient and diligently followed The Word of God. He recorded five conditions for them to receive the twenty-one blessings listed in this chapter. These blessings were conditional and were based upon their behavior.
We are included in these conditional blessings for the people of God. If we obey The Lord and if we honestly and wholeheartedly follow His Word, we will be blessed, our children will be blessed, our work will be blessed, our travels to and fro will be blessed, our homes will be blessed, and we will be abundantly blessed with prosperity. The blessings that we receive depend upon our behavior and our obedience to The Word of God. The Lord God rewards those who have faith and diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
