"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer." Psalms 19:14 (NIV)
King David, a man after the heart of God, prayed this prayer out of his sincere desire to please God. He had asked God for forgiveness of his sins, and he asked God to keep him from committing sin unintentionally and willfully. (Psalms 19:12-13) Here he is praying for Him to guide his words and his thoughts, that they might pleasing to The Lord. He knows that his help, his strength, and his salvation all come from The Lord.
We would do well to ask God to forgive our sinful thoughts, words, and deeds, and to ask for His help avoid unintentional and intentional sins. We need His help because we sin by omission as well as by commission. David said that The Word of God warns us, and we are rewarded for obeying it. (Psalms 19:9-11) We will be judged on our thoughts, spoken words, and our actions. (1 Samuel 16:7, Jeremiah 17:10 and 32:19, Matthew 12:36, and Revelation 20:12) We will also be judged on the things which we should have done but omitted. (Matthew 25:45) David was a man after the heart of God because he had a sincere desire to please God. Although he had sinned, he prayed frequently, and he asked God to forgive him, and he asked God to guide his thoughts, words, and deeds. We would do good to do likewise. We should pray that not only our actions would be pleasing to The Lord, but that the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts would be pleasing to Him.

Be Careful What You Look At
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness." Matthew 6:22-23 (NIV)
As part of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said that ones eyes are the lamp and light to the body. If ones eyes are good and look at good, then the whole body is filled with light. However, if the eyes are bad and look at that which is bad, then the whole body is full of darkness.
Physically, the eyes allow light to enter the body if they are functioning properly. If they do not function properly and do not allow light to enter, then we live in darkness. Spiritually, that which we look at and see enters our mind through our eyes. If what we see is good, then good thoughts are produced. However, if what we see is bad, evil, or sinful, then that is what we think about. Philosophically, our eyes are the windows to our soul and we are what we think. (Proverbs 23:7) So, be careful what you look at, look at good things, read The Good Book (the Bible), think good thoughts, and do good.

Trust In The Lord And Not In Man
"Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught ... My heart is in anguish within me ... Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me ... If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were raising himself against me, I could hide from him. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship as we walked with the throng at the house of God ... But I call to God, and The Lord saves me ... men who never change their ways and have no fear of God. My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant. His speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords. Cast your cares on The Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall. But You, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you." Psalms 55:1-23 (NIV) Shortened
This psalm of David is one of his prayers. He prayed this prayer when he was being attacked from without and from within, and even some of his friends had turned on him.
Not only are we suffering from the attacks and disappointments from others, but our thoughts and emotions are negative and out of control. This psalm of David advises us to pray when things seem to be going wrong. David also warns us to watch out for our "so-called" friends. We expect attacks from our enemies, but not from our "friends." These "friends" will attack us, usually verbally, and break promises made to us that they never really intended to keep. They are smooth talkers, but they have malice in their hearts. Trust in The Lord, for only He can protect and sustain us.

Think Before You Speak
"Do you see a man who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for him." Proverbs 29:20 (NIV)
Some of us say whatever comes to mind. "Whatever come up, comes out." As our thoughts occur they are uttered, without the benefit of being processed or filtered. Speaking without thinking is not a good idea, especially when we are angry.
"He who restrains his lips is wise." Proverbs 10:19 (NKJ) or "... He who holds his tongue is wise." (NIV) Some things are better off if they are left unspoken. If what we were going to say is not going to help someone, then we should probably keep that thought to ourselves.

What's On Your Mind, How Pure Are Your Thoughts?
"Commit thy works unto The Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established." Proverbs 16:3
Having trouble thinking sinful thoughts, then get busy working for The Lord. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." Unknown Keep yourself and your mind occupied with Godly activities, like reading The Word of God, or doing something to be a helpful blessing to others.
While it is possible to deceive others, and do the "right thing for the wrong reasons", God knows our true motives. If we submit to the will of God, He will direct our thoughts and fulfill our righteous plans.
We need to clean up our thoughts, as well as our words and actions, and we need God's help to do it. Remember, as a man "... thinketh in his heart, so is he;" Proverbs 23:7

God Sees All That We Do And Judgement Is Coming
"For the ways of man are before the eyes of The Lord, and He pondereth all his goings." Proverbs 5:21
Some people say, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." It is as if they believe that God is not there and that He does not see all that goes on in Las Vegas and everywhere else. That which is done in the dark will soon come to the light.
Imagine a video camera being focused upon you, 24 hours each day, 365 days of the year. Would you want that recording played back to all of your family and friends in church, especially if it included all that you said and thought?
On judgement day, Jesus is going to judge each of us on all of our thoughts, words, and deeds. Read Matthew 12:36-37 and Revelation 20:12-13. Repent now and ask for forgiveness for all sins, and pray for help to avoid them in the future.

Watch Your Words
Watch what you say, before you speak, pray this prayer, or something just like it.

We really ought to be much more careful regarding the words that we speak. Even what we think should be pleasing to God. We will be judged by not only that which we do, but also by what we say and think. (Read Matthew 12:36-37 & Matthew 5:28 & Proverbs 23:7)
When you pray, ask for forgiveness for sinful deeds, spoken words, and thoughts.

Judge Not
"Therefore judge nothing before the time, until The Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every man have praise of God." 1 Corinthians 4:5
Judge no man, not even yourself. Often we are too hard on ourselves. When we sin and do wrong, we should confess it, ask for forgiveness and the strength not to repeat it, and move on. At the appointed time God will judge all of us. All that was done in the dark will be brought to light. Our deeds, words, thoughts, and motives will be judged.
This is a New Testament prophecy, The Lord God, Jesus The Christ, is coming back. When He comes, those of us who believe will meet Him in the air, the rapture. And when we meet Him we will be judged. That which gave God glory will be rewarded. And we will have to give an account for everything else that did not give God gory.
So, "let's get right church and let's go home."

Our Ways And Thoughts Are Not His
"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return unto The Lord , and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith The Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts higher than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:7-9
We need to repent from our sinful thoughts and deeds and follow Christ. No matter what we have done, He will forgive us, if we sincerely ask Him. Given our limited mind and capacity, we cannot conceive, describe, or comprehend Him. God's "thoughts" and "ways" are so much more nobler and more magnificent than ours.
Like a grain of sand compared to the vastness of a beach, His vastness more than dwarfs our insignificance when compared to any of His qualities. Our God is just awesome.
