THE FAITHFUL WILL BE ABUNDANTLY BLESSED

Proclamation:

"A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished."  Proverbs 28:20 (NIV)  

Explanation:

These Holy Spirit inspired words were written by King Solomon, the wisest man to ever live, and were directed to his subjects as fatherly advice designed to highlight and teach the fundamental principals of moral living.  Here he addresses the sin of the man who sought worldly riches instead of the kingdom of God.  He said that man would be punished.

Application:

There is nothing wrong with being rich.  Having wealth is not a sin.  The sin is the pursuit of wealth and riches instead of following The Word of God.  It is the love of money which is the root of the sin. (1 Timothy 6:10)  As believers we need to understand that we are to make seeking the kingdom of heaven our first and most important priority. (Matthew 6:33)  The love of God should govern and influence all aspects of our lives.  Nothing should be more important to us than God and nothing in our lives should be placed ahead of God.  If we are faithful, true believers and loyal followers of Christ, then we will be richly and abundantly blessed.  We are to have faith in God, and we are to demonstrate and exercise our faith. (Mark 11:22)  We are not to practice the unscrupulous pursuit of wealth or focus solely on gaining riches.  Those who choose to put the pursuit of worldly riches and desires ahead of God will be punished.  The honest believer will be abundantly blessed while the unscrupulous schemer will be punished.

The Faithful Abound With Blessings

"A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished."  Proverbs 28:20 (NIV)  The King James Version of The Bible reads: "A faithful man shall abound with blessings; but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent."

King Solomon, the wisest man ever, wrote that a man who is faithful unto The Lord God and unto The Word of God would be abundantly blessed.  He also wrote that the man who sought riches instead of the kingdom of God would be punished.

We need to understand that we are to make seeking the kingdom of heaven our first and most important priority. (Matthew 6:33)  We are to have faith in God, and we are to demonstrate and exercise our faith. (Mark 11:22)  If we are faithful, true believers and loyal followers of Christ, then we will be richly and abundantly blessed.  Those who choose to put the pursuit of worldly riches and desires ahead of God will be punished.  The honest believer will be blessed while the unscrupulous schemer will be punished.

Want To Be Abundantly Blessed?

This saying is from Solomon, the wisest man to ever live.  He said the man who is faithful to God will be abundantly blessed.  He also said that the man who is primarily concerned with getting worldly riches will be punished.

If we are faithful to God and in our walk with Him, we will not only be blessed, but we will be abundantly blessed.  If we first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all the other things will be given to us. (Matthew 6:33)   He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)  And those who diligently seek Him will gain His favor. (Proverbs 11:27)  However, we should also be aware that if we seek worldly riches instead of seeking God, even if we get rich, we will be cursed.  So, if we want to be abundantly blessed, we should faithfully seek and follow Christ.
