"I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." John 13:15-17 (NIV)
According to The Holy Spirit inspired word recorded by the Apostle John, the disciple who referred to himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved, Jesus said to His disciples that the man who has been shown and taught the right way, and then does right and follows the right way, will be blessed.
When we know that which is right, we should do that which is right. As the saying goes, "when we know better, we should do better." We are encouraged to not just be hearers of The Word of God, but also to be doers of The Word. (James 1:22) The Lord God will show His wrath to those who hear The Word of God, and then do not obey it. (2 Thessalonians 1:8) Christ lived His human life on earth as an example to us, and we need to follow His example. If we live a Christ-like life, we will be blessed.

We Will Be Blessed If We Do As Christ Did

Blessings Come By Knowing And Doing
"I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you ... Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." John 13"15-17 (NIV)
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples at the Passover Feast after He had washed the feet of His disciples. He had provided them with an example of how to live and behave, and He had taught them. Then Jesus said, "Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them."
When we know better, we ought to do better. Knowing what is right and not doing it is not good enough. We are not blessed because of what we know. We are blessed by what we say and do. Faith without works is dead. (James 2:17) Knowledge alone, if it is not accompanied by action, is useless. We must apply what we know in order to be a blessing to others and to be blessed ourselves.

"You Should Do As I Have Done"
"I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth ...
Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." John 13:15-17 (NIV)
Just before the passover feast, the last supper, and His betrayal by Judas, Jesus was with His disciples teaching them. His life and His actions were to be an example to them for them to follow. He was an example of loving humility. Their joy was not in knowing what He said and did, but in living and doing as He did.
Knowing The Word of God is not enough. We will be blessed if we are obedient to His Word and put it into practice in our lives. Some of our blessings are tied to our behavior. "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." James 2:26 (NIV) We must put our knowledge of God's Word into action and let our lives reflect it.
