VICTORY OVER THE ENEMIES

PROCLAMATION

“And The Lord said unto Joshua, ‘Be not afraid because of them; for tomorrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel; thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.’ ”  Joshua 11:6 (KJV)

 

EXPLANATION

These are the words of God which were revealed to and written by Joshua under the influence of The Holy Spirit of God.  After Joshua had defeated the kings of the five southern kingdoms, the kings of the six northern kingdoms came together to war against Israel. (Joshua 11:1-5)  The Lord God told Joshua not to worry because he would slay them all. (Joshua 11:6)  Joshua did as The Lord had directed him and he defeated them.  Then he systematically defeated each of their royal cities and killed every person in each city. (Joshua 11:7-13)  The Israelites completely destroyed them all, killing all the people and then carried off all of the plunder and livestock. (Joshua 11:14)  Joshua and the Israelites took over the entire land that was promised to them, (Joshua 11:15-23) and they killed all of the inhabitants of the land except for the Hivites living in Gibeon who had made a treaty with them. (Joshua 9:15)

 

APPLICATION

Although they were outnumbered, they defeated their enemies because The Lord God was with them.  If we believe in Him and obey His Holy Word, then He will also be with us.  And, if God is with us, no one can stand against us. (Romans 8:31)  We do not have to worry about any battle we face down here because He has already given us the victory. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

 

SOMETIMES DREAMS COME TRUE

PROCLAMATION

“And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came; for the famine was in the land of Canaan.  And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land; and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.  And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them …”  Genesis 42:5-7 (KJV)

 

EXPLANATION

These are the words of God which were revealed to and written by Moses under the influence of The Holy Spirit of God.  As a seventeen year old young man, Joseph had a dream that his brothers would bow down to him and they hated him for it. (Genesis 37:2-11)  After his brothers sold him into slavery, The Lord God was with him and Joseph rose up to become the governor of Egypt. (Genesis 41:39-41)  Because of the famine in Canaan, his ten older brothers had come to Egypt to buy grain.  When he saw them Joseph recognized them, but they did not recognize him. (Genesis 42:8)  Then Joseph remembered his dreams. (Genesis 42:9)  Joseph spoke harshly to them and accused them of being spies from a foreign country who were sizing up the land. (Genesis 42:9-14)  He told them to prove themselves by bringing their youngest brother before him.  Joseph told them to send one of them to get their brother and he would hold the rest of them in prison, but he put all of them in prison for three days. (Genesis 42:15-17)  On the third day he changed his mind and told them that one of them would have to stay there until they brought back their youngest brother.  They talked among themselves not realizing the Joseph understood them.  Joseph turned away from them and wept. (Genesis 42:18-24)  Then he kept Simon and ordered that they be given the corn and, unbeknownst to them, their money was returned to them.  When they got home, they told their father Israel what had happened to them, but he was unwilling to let Benjamin be taken. (Genesis 42:25-38)

 

APPLICATION

Some of our dreams are visions, given to us by The Lord God, of things yet to come.  However, just because prosperity is in our future does not mean that we are ready for it when The Lord shows us it is coming.  He has to take us through some things in order to prepare us for what He has in store for us.  We may have to go through trials and tribulations for us to learn to trust Him and so that He can move us to where He wants us to be.  We may not get all that we want, and not all dreams are visions, but whatever God has in store for us we will receive.

THE LORD GOD SAID AS I WAS WITH MOSES SO WILL I BE WITH YOU

Proclamation:

“After the death of Moses the servant of The Lord, The Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ aide: ‘Moses My servant is dead.  Now then … As I was with Moses, so will I be with you.  I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  Joshua 1:1-5 (NIV)

Explanation:

These are the words of God which were written by Joshua under the influence of The Holy Spirit of God.  The Lord God allowed Moses to climb to the top of Mount Nebo and to see the promise land, but He did not allow him to cross over into it. (Deuteronomy 34:1-4)  Moses died in Moab and The Lord God buried him somewhere in the valley. (Deuteronomy 34:5-7)  Joshua was filled with The Spirit because Moses had laid hands on him. (Deuteronomy 34:9)  After the Israelites had grieved for Moses for thirty days, (Deuteronomy 34:8) The Lord God spoke to Joshua and told him that he would lead the people into the promise land. (Joshua 1:1-6)  The Lord God also told Joshua to be strong and courageous, and to obey the law which Moses had given to them. (Joshua 1:7-9)  There were no written Scripture available to Moses, The Lord God spoke to him directly.  However, Moses had faithfully written all that The Lord God had spoken to him so the first five Books of the Bible were written and available to Joshua.

Application:

Moses was clearly a man of God, and so was Joshua.  Both of them were leaders of God’s people.  The Lord God was with them to counsel and advise them, to guide and direct them, and to protect and defend them.  The same is true today for the men of God who are leading God’s people.  However, this also applies to all of the leaders of God’s people who are believers.  That also includes the patriarchs and matriarchs who are believers and leaders of our families today.  When they die, it passes on to us to obey The Word of God and to lead our families.  As leaders of God’s people, even if we only lead or influence a few of them, we must also obey The Lord.  If we will obey His Holy Word, then He will be with us as He was with Moses and Joshua.  He will never leave us nor forsake us. (Joshua 1:5 and Hebrews 13:5)
