MIRACLES CAN BLESS US AND FRIGHTEN OUR ENEMIES

PROCLAMATION

“And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that The Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their hearts melted, neither was there spirit in them any more…”  Joshua 5:1 (KJV)

 

EXPLANATION

These are the words of God which were revealed to and written by Joshua under the influence of The Holy Spirit of God.  When the priests carrying The Arc of The Covenant stepped into the Jordan River, the water stopped flowing and the Israelites walked across the Jordan on dry ground.  The priests stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground while all the Israelites walked around them into Canaan. (Joshua 3:17)  After the whole nation of Israel had crossed the Jordan, The Lord God told Joshua to send twelve men, one from each of the twelve tribes, back to where the priest were standing and gather twelve stones.  These twelve large stones were carried back on their shoulders and set up, one on top of the other as a monument, where they made camp. (Joshua 4:1-9)  Then Joshua commanded the priest carrying The Arc of The Covenant to come out of the Jordan and as they stepped on the shore the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and resumed flowing. (Joshua 4:15-24)  When the Amorites and the people of Canaan heard how The Lord God had dried up the Jordan for the Israelites, they became afraid to face them. (Joshua 5:1)  Then The Lord told Joshua to circumcise the males that had been born in the wilderness and had not been circumcised. (Joshua 5:2-8)  When they celebrated the Passover, they ate produce which had been grown in Canaan.  On the day after the Passover, manna stopped falling from heaven. (Joshua 5:10-12)

 

APPLICATION

The miracles that The Lord God preforms in our lives to make a way out of no way for us, can be the same miracles that strikes fear in the hearts of our enemies.  All we have to do is trust and obey Him, and our blessings will cause our enemies to become afraid.  The very blessing which The Lord God uses to encourage us, He can also use to discourage our enemies.  When we glorify Him and proclaim His goodness to us, we encourage the hearts of other believers, and The Holy Spirit of God can use that to cause non-believers to become upset and worried, or to become convicted, convinced, and converted.

 

GOD WILL DEAL WITH OUR ENEMIES

PROCLAMATION

“And she said unto the men, ‘I know that The Lord hath given you this land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.  For we have heard how The Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites … whom ye utterly destroyed.  And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you; for The Lord your God, He is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath."  Joshua 2:9-11 (KJV)

 

EXPLANATION

These are the words of God which were revealed to and written by Joshua under the influence of The Holy Spirit of God.  After the people agreed to obey Joshua as he follows The Lord God, (Joshua 1:16-18) Joshua sent two spies into the promised land scout out Jericho. (Joshua 2:1)  The two men went into the city and came to the house of the prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.  Rahab knew who they were and she hid them from the king’s men that were searching for them. (Joshua 2:1-7)  She told them what she heard about them and made the men promise to grant safety for her family when the Israelites took the land. (Joshua 2:8-14)  They agreed that only those who were within her house would be saved. (Joshua 2:18-21)  She let them out of her house, which was part of the Jericho city wall, by a rear window via a scarlet cord and the two men returned to Joshua and reported everything to him. (Joshua 2:15-24)

 

APPLICATION

We should not judge people by their appearance, their religion, their nationality, or their occupation, or the lack thereof.  The Lord God can use anyone to be a blessing to us.  Do not reject a blessing because of a dislike for the vehicle that it comes in.  The Lord God can touch the heart of our enemy and have them behave in a manner that is to our benefit.  He can harden or soften anyone’s heart for them to do His will.  So, as the saying goes, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”  Remember, The Bible says, “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1)
