PUNISHED FOR MISTREATING PEOPLE OF GOD

 Proclamation

“And The Lord smote Benjamin before Israel; and the children of Israel destroyed the Benjamites that day and twenty and five thousand and an hundred men; all these drew the sword.”  Judges 20:35 (KJV)

Explanation

These are the words of God which were written by the prophet Samuel under the influence of The Holy Spirit of God.  After the tribes of Israel received the message for the Levite regarding what the Benjamites had done to his concubine, they gathered together to fight the Benjamites. (Judges 20:1-11)  The tribes of Israel sent messengers throughout the tribe of Benjamin asking them to turn over to them the wicked men who raped and murdered the concubine but they refused.  The Benjamites gathered their men and prepared to fight against their fellow Israelites. (Judges 20:12-16)  The men of Israel attacked the Benjamites.  They lost the early battles but eventually they defeated the Benjamites because The Lord God was with them. (Judges 20:17- 35)  Some of the Benjamites, about six hundred of them, escaped and fled into the wilderness.  So the men of Israel went from town to town in Benjamin and killed every living thing, including the animals, and then they burned down every town. (Judges 20:36-48)

Application

People may do wrong to the people of God and they may appear to get away with it.  However, they will be punished (Psalm 37:1-2) along with the people who help them and support them. (Judges 20:13)  The Lord God sees all and He will deal with them in His own good time.  We just need to pray and trust in Him.  “… Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, saith The Lord.” (Romans 12:19)  Wait patiently on The Lord and fret not because of evil doers for they will be cut off. (Psalm 37:7-9)
