SOMETIMES IT IS BETTER TO SEPARATE

PROCLAMATION

“And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters … and all his substance … and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.  For their riches were more than that might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.  Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir …”  Genesis 36:6-8 (KJV)

EXPLANATION

These are the words of God which were revealed to and written by Moses under the influence of The Holy Spirit of God.  After they buried their father Isaac, Esau took his family and his flocks  and his possessions and moved away from his brother Jacob because the land could not support both of their flocks. (Genesis 36:6-8)  The first five verses of this chapter listed the wives and children of Esau. (Genesis 36:1-5)  After providing the reason for the peaceful separation of the brothers (Genesis 36:6-8) the remainder of the chapter identifies the generations of Esau, the father of the Edomites. (Genesis 36:9-43)

APPLICATION

Even when we love our family and friends, sometimes it is better for us to go our separate ways.  There are situations which make it difficult for family members to live together.  There are occasions where staying together as a family may be detrimental to all concerned.  It is better to maintain a loving relationship from afar than to damage the relationship by trying to stay together.  However, before we act we should pray.  We should always pray (Luke 18:1) and we should pray about everything.  When The Lord God says for us to go, we should go.
