HEADING TOWARDS THE PROMISED LAND
PROCLAMATION
“And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people
go … God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea
… And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him … And The Lord went before them
by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar
of fire, to give them light …” Exodus
13:17-21 (KJV)
EXPLANATION
These are the words of God which were
revealed to and written by Moses under the influence of The Holy Spirit of
God. The day after they ate The Passover meal, Moses led the Israelites
out of Egypt heading towards the Red Sea. (Exodus 13:15-21) The Passover meal was to be eaten with
unleavened bread. (Exodus 13:3 and 13:6-10) Moses was told to make sure that the firstborn
males were circumcised and consecrated to The Lord. (Exodus 13:1)
APPLICATION
When The Lord God led the children of Israel out of
Egypt, He did not lead them on the shortest route. He led them towards the Red Sea through the
wilderness. (Exodus 13:17) As we are led
to the promised land, the road may be difficult and beset with
tribulations. However, He will be with
us, and there is nothing that we will encounter that He cannot handle. So, wherever He leads us, we should gladly
follow because He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. (John 14:6) We cannot make it to the promised land without
Him.
