PROCLAMATION
“And Esau
took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters … and all his substance … and
went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob. For their riches were more than that might
dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them
because of their cattle. Thus dwelt Esau
in mount Seir …” Genesis 36:6-8 (KJV)
EXPLANATION
These are
the words of God which were revealed to and written by Moses under the
influence of The Holy Spirit of God. After they buried their father
Isaac, Esau took his family and his possessions and moved away from Jacob
because the land could not support both of their flocks. (Genesis 36:6-8) The remainder of the chapter identifies the
generation of Esau. (Genesis 36:9-43)
APPLICATION
Even when
we love our family and friends, sometimes it is better for us to go our separate
ways. There are situations which make it
difficult for us to live together and staying together may be detrimental to
both parties. When The Lord God says for
us to go, we should go. There are also
times when we should go without us waiting for God to say so.
