Proclamation:
“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust
her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.” Proverbs 31:10-12 (KJV)
Explanation:
These words, which were told to him by his mother, were
written by King Lemuel under the influence of The Holy Spirit of God. After giving him advice regarding the
drinking of alcoholic beverages, (Proverbs 31:4-7) she offered him some words
of wisdom regarding finding a good wife. (Proverbs 31:10-31) Here she tells him that a good wife is worth
more than precious stones. She is the
kind of woman that a husband can have full confidence in because she will only do
good things for him.
Application:
A good wife is hard to find.
She is a blessing from The Lord God.
Whoever finds a good wife finds a good thing, and he receives favor from
The Lord God. (Proverbs 18:22) She will
be good to her husband and good for him.
She is faithful and she can be trusted.
She goes about her daily tasks with vigor (Proverbs 31:17) and she takes
care of her business in such a way that is profitable to her household.
(Proverbs 31:18) She offers words of
wisdom to her children (Proverbs 31:26) and her husband and her children are
blessed to have her. (Proverbs 31:28)
